Before and after wrinkle relaxers
Before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
- Avoid blood thinners and NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for 5 to 7 days before, unless prescribed by your doctor.
- Avoid fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo and St. John’s Wort for 5 days before.
- Arrive with a clean face, with no makeup in the treatment areas.
- Tell NP Sarah about any recent dental work, illness, skin infections or cold sore history.
- Stay well hydrated the day before and the day of your appointment.
- Do not schedule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After your appointment
- Stay upright for 4 hours, with no lying down or bending forward.
- Do not rub, massage or touch the treated areas for 4 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot yoga for 24 hours.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
- No facials, chemical peels or laser treatments for 2 weeks.
- Mild redness, swelling or tenderness at the injection sites is normal and resolves within hours.
- Bruising is possible. Arnica cream or gel may help. Use Tylenol only, not NSAIDs.
- Results appear in 5 to 14 days. Daxxify typically starts working in 5 to 7 days and lasts 6 months or longer.

What should I do before my neurotoxin appointment?
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen and other blood thinners for 5 to 7 days, and fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo and St. John’s Wort for 5 days, unless your doctor prescribes them. These can increase bruising. Come with a clean face and be ready to talk about your goals and medical history.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Stay upright for 4 hours, avoid intense exercise, heat such as saunas and hot yoga, and alcohol for 24 hours, and do not massage or rub the treated areas. This helps the product settle where it was intended. Skip facials, peels and lasers for 2 weeks.

Who is not a good candidate for neurotoxin?
Neurotoxin is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis or ALS, have an active skin infection at the treatment site, or have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or the ingredients.
What should I expect from before-and-after results?
Results are not immediate and build over 1 to 2 weeks. The goal is natural, softened movement, not a frozen look. Small touch-ups may be needed to reach your ideal result, and individual results vary.
