Progress is more than scale weight
The InBody 580 is a body composition scanner. It tracks muscle, body fat and body water, so we can see what is changing and not only how much you weigh.
That matters most when weight is part of your care. Large weight loss can include muscle loss, so I want to see your muscle and body fat from the start, and follow them as your plan moves along.
I measure grip strength with an InGrip dynamometer, a clinical-grade tool that uses sensor technology to give reliable readings we can track over time. It is a simple measure connected to strength, function and healthy aging. Together with the InBody scan, it gives us objective numbers to follow, alongside how you feel.
What we can follow
- Muscle
- Body fat
- Body water
- Grip strength over time
How it fits into your care
01
Baseline at your visit
When it is appropriate, we measure your body composition and grip strength at the start, so we have an objective starting point.
02
Plan with what we see
I use the numbers alongside your history, symptoms and goals to shape your plan, for example to protect muscle while body fat comes down.
03
Compare at follow-ups
At selected follow-ups we measure again and compare, so you can see change over time and we can adjust the plan.
Memberships
Foundation ($98 a month), Elevate ($149) and Transform ($289) bank monthly credit toward the care you choose and include member pricing. They are optional, and care à la carte is always welcome.
InBody 580 and grip test questions
Text me at (916) 280-0949 if your question isn’t here. I would rather answer it before your visit than have you guess.

What is the InBody 580?
It is a body composition scanner that tracks muscle, body fat and body water. I use it so your progress is measured by more than scale weight.
How is grip strength measured?
With an InGrip dynamometer, a clinical-grade handheld tool. It is a simple measure connected to strength, function and healthy aging, and we repeat it over time so you can see how your strength is changing.
Do I need a scan to start care?
No. A scan is a tool that I use when it helps your plan. You never need one to begin care.
Is a scan right for everyone?
Not always. Tell me about any implanted electronic device, such as a pacemaker, or a pregnancy before a scan, and I will tell you whether it is appropriate.
Is it included in a membership?
InBody scans and grip-strength checks are included with the Transform membership. You can also ask about a scan on its own.
How much does it cost?
I confirm the cost with you at your visit.
