Color correction for the surface of your skin

IPL photofacial treatments at NP Empowered Wellness in Roseville help with sun damage, pigmentation, redness and uneven tone using light-based technology. I use Lumecca. It delivers targeted light energy to reduce pigment and vascular irregularities, so clearer, more even skin shows over time.

In my cake system, IPL is the Surface layer. It is the color correction: evening out tone so everything looks brighter, clearer and more uniform. It works on the face and on larger body areas like the chest, shoulders and arms.

IPL is for the right candidate, in the hands of the right provider. At your consult I will check your skin tone, your recent sun exposure and your medications before we plan anything.

What IPL can address

  • Sun damage on the face, chest, shoulders and arms
  • Brown spots, freckles and pigmentation
  • Redness and rosacea
  • Broken capillaries

What to expect from IPL photofacial

01

Consult

We review your skin, your medications (especially photosensitizing drugs) and any recent sun exposure or tanning. I will also ask about Accutane use in the past 6 months.

02

Prepare

You avoid sun and self-tanner for 4 weeks before and stop retinoids and actives 5 days before. You arrive with clean skin, no makeup.

03

Treatment

A visit usually takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on the area. Larger body areas may take slightly longer.

04

Clearing

Treated pigment may darken and rise to the surface, then flake off naturally over 5 to 10 days. Some improvement can show within 7 to 10 days and keeps building for a few weeks.

05

Series

A series of 2 to 3 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart, is typically recommended.

Combination plan

The 3-Step Skin Renewal

Correct, rebuild, recover. A layered approach designed to improve tone, strengthen structure and support healing for more complete results.

Step 1: Correct

IPL or PRX

Both target pigmentation, redness and uneven tone, restoring clarity at the surface.

Step 2: Rebuild

Morpheus8

Stimulates collagen and remodels deeper layers, tightening and improving skin structure.

Step 3: Recover and enhance

PDGF or Exosome Therapy

Supports healing, reduces inflammation and enhances results by improving the skin’s regenerative response.

Each step builds on the next. Surface concerns, deeper structure and recovery are all addressed, so the plan is more balanced and efficient than a single treatment.

Memberships

Foundation ($98 a month), Elevate ($149) and Transform ($289) bank monthly credit toward the care you choose and include member pricing. They are optional, and care à la carte is always welcome.

Before and after IPL photofacial

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 4 weeks before treatment.
  • No self-tanner for 4 weeks before.

After your appointment

How much does IPL cost in Roseville, CA?

IPL at NP Empowered Wellness starts at $300. A series of 2 to 3 treatments is typically recommended. Elevate and Transform members receive member pricing, and Elevate includes an annual IPL or small-area laser hair removal treatment.

What should I do before IPL?

Avoid sun, tanning beds and self-tanner for 4 weeks. Stop retinoids and active skincare 5 days before. Arrive with clean, product-free skin. The full list is in the care instructions on this page.

Is there downtime after IPL?

Minimal to none. You may have slight redness or sensitivity, which typically resolves within a few hours.

What should I avoid after treatment?

Strict sun avoidance for 2 weeks with SPF 50+ every morning. Avoid heat, saunas and vigorous exercise for 24 to 48 hours. Do not pick at or scrub treated areas, and skip retinoids, acids and actives for 5 to 7 days.

How long does the treatment take?

Typically 20 to 45 minutes depending on the area. Larger body areas may take slightly longer.

How many treatments will I need?

A series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is typically recommended.

When will I see results?

Some improvement may show within 7 to 10 days. Results keep building over the following weeks as pigment rises to the surface and clears. Best results are typically seen after a series.

Will my spots get darker before they fade?

Yes. That is expected and part of the process. Treated pigment may darken and rise to the surface, then flake off naturally over 5 to 10 days, revealing clearer skin underneath.

Who is not a candidate for IPL?

IPL may not be suitable for very dark skin tones, active infections, recent tanning or certain photosensitive conditions. Please do not schedule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. I will decide with you whether IPL is safe and appropriate.
